This trail starts out on the Centennial Trail and veers left along CSP Road 4 (Wildlife Loop Rd.) After following the road for about 2 miles the trail turns left up a draw past the remnants of the second largest Ponderosa Pine in the US. At the top of the draw turn right to briefly ride along the ridge until plunging down Robber's Roost Gulch till it junctions with CSP Road 3. Turn left on CSP 3 until it junctions with CSP 4. Take a left and follow CSP 4 back to the trailhead.

The Centennial Trail French Creek Trailhead serves as the starting point and is located on the eastern end of the French Creek Horse Camp. Take Custer State Park Road #4 east off of Highway 87 to get to the horse camp. Drive through the horse camp to the trailhead.
